Similarities and Differences

I think my parents and I learn in the same way. Although I was raised with different ways of having material presented to me than they where when they were kids, I think we share the same overall learning style. Despite the lack of technology available when my parents were growing up, they have it now and in both of their jobs they are required to use it. I think one's learning evolves throughout their lifetime, and people are able to adjust to these changes.
Technology plays a role of equal signifigance in my life and my parents lives. The main difference is that I find it more natural to use technology for all of my personal needs than they do. They use technology work work and research, but very little for recreation. I take advantage of instant messaging and text messaging, where they find it very inconvenient. Unlike them, it is my first insticint to check the internet for movie times, directions, and weather reports, where they would usually check the paper, and look at a map. The main difference between how technology plays a role in my life versus my parents lives is that I use it more frequently and for entertainment than they do.

My Weekend In Los Angeles

This past weekend I had the privledge of spending the entire weekend with some of my closest friends. It was a great chance to get together with everyone and reminisce about the old times and share our new experiences with one another. The trip was extremely hectic driving all over L.A. to bring everyone together but the effort was well worth it.
The best part of the weekend was Saturday. I saw Hitch starring Will Smith and it was absolutley hysterical. I highly recommend it to everyone. I loved it's portrael of relationships and the efforts we go to to get the one we want. That night we went to Westwood where we ate dinner and walked around the shops. I went to a Hooka bar for my first time that night. I was a little unsure if it would be my thing but I was still eager to go. It turned out to be an absolute blast! The actual hooka wasn't that exciting to me, but the atmosphere was awsome. The dancing and music created a carefree envoirnment to kick back and have a good time.
Overall it was an awsome weekend. However, I am glad to be back at school where I can use my meal plan and give my bank account a rest.

First Blog Post

Wednesday, February 02, 2005

February 2, class reflection
Today I learned more about different types of blogs and what they can be used for. I explored political blogs in depth, but also looked over various other types of blogs including technology in society.
When researching I can use blogs as a startinbg point to familiarize me with a topic. It enables me to look over many different comments about a subject and see where different people stand on different topics. Blogs also provide me with a great way to keep in touch with friends and family members involving them with my dfaily life.
Today I am still unsure about how to use my own blog. I am unfamiliar with different ways I can conrtibute to my current blog, but I know this will come with experience!

Next Year's House- Problem Solving

This weeks dilemma: Housing for next year.
Since I am constantly reminded of the limited housing around SDSU, and have heard the difficulties of my fellow students in their struggles to find I place to live, I felt that I should start looking early for next year. Three of my girlfriends and I started to talk about how we were going to find a place and what we would be looking for. The group of four somehow jumped to seven, and the search became more difficult. I am sure by now, most are wondering why anyone would want to live with six other women, and how it is even possible for seven women to live under a roof without killing eachother. I am not here to provide problem solving to such perplexing issues such as that, however I will go through the problem solving that I did on my own to determine if I would want to live in the six bedroom house that we found. I will give you a little bit of background information on the house, follow it with a pros and cons list, and finish up with how my method of problem solving helped me eliminate biases and make a decision.
The house that we have found has six bedrooms (I would get my own), three bathrooms, a family room, nice size kitchen, two car garage, backyard, and patio. It is spacious with an excellent layout. The house is located 1.4 miles from school in a safe neighborhood. Its sounds great, and it is, but I was still unsure if I would want to live there for next year. My friends were all saying yes, so I had to make a Pros vs. Cons lists to sort out my thoughts and eliminate their opinions from my personal decision.
Pros
nice house
safe neighborhood
nice landlords
available parking
quiet
my own room
if we got it, our search for a house would be over
we can all live together
nice backyard
Cons
not walking distance from school
seven girls in a house (could be good or bad, only time will tell...)
our neighbors are not students, might not meet other people our age
kind or pricey
maybe there is something better out there

I decided that I would go with the house after sorting out the pros and cons in my head. It is still not a done deal, I will know for sure by Monday if the house is ours. By making out a list of the good things and the bad things I was able to see that although there were a few things I was hesitant about, overall it seemed like a good match for me. This method allowed me to eliminate the biases that were created because of my friends opinions, as well as put aside the initial emotions I felt when seeing this darling home for the first time. I feel that I have made a good decision and I will know if I have for sure if at the end of the year I have had a positive experience in this house.

Hello My Friend!!!

Hey everyone! This whole blog thing is very new to me, but I think I might be able to assimilate into the blogging culture and perhaps even find my own niche. I am studying business here at SDSU and hope to eventually find a career in marketing and sales, although I am always open to new ideas in case something else were to grap my attention.
I love going to school here in warm San Diego! No one can complain when they live in a place where they can sunbath in December. I love asking questions, spray butter, and buttered popcorn Jellybellies! Look foward to hearing more about Kwitt's krazy adventures!
